That is so cool. It is really neat to watch kids do things for the first time!

And that trust is a biggie! If trust is not there, the relationship would not go very deep.

I bet there is nothing that Grandma can not cure or solve for them. lol When you are raising your own kids, it seems that I give them more direction than guidance, meaning that they need to do what I tell them to do, and go through the thought process later. As a grandparent, do you think it is more guidance than direction, because they know they do not have to do what you say, because their parents are there as a fallback plan for them?

It is great that your kids have been following their dreams, and living and enjoying life. I know you are very proud of each one of them.

I am sure being a grandparent is different, because you let your children raise their own children. I know that is how I will be with my grandkids some day.

This talk of grandkids reminds me of my Grandpa. My Grandparents (father) lived in the same town that we did. Even though my Grandpa let us be raised by our parents, I still feel a strong connection to my Grandpa, and he has been gone for over 40 years (literally). Grandparents are special. So even though being a grandparent is different, I am sure that you have a special place in your grandkids lives.

My younger one is 11. They both are good boys. We just got a late start on our boys, but we are very blessed.

I am just glad that people are coming in to help us celebrate with both boys. I do not get too ecstatic, because I know that every one will do their own thing, and it just works out -- almost a 'shoot from the hip' type deal.

We really have not thought too much about the graduation or the birthday just yet, because we have been spending more time trying to figure out where the older boy wants to go to college.

I bet you have a lot of fun being the grandma. I think I still have a little bit of time before any grandkids come in my life -- for now.

When I was pastoring, my boys kinda had adopted-grandparents of the church, but that is not quite the same. Their real grandparents were not too far away there, about three hours for one set, and 5 hours for another. Now, the closet set about 7 to 8 hours away. So when my older son graduates this year, they both will have quite a treat. My older son will graduate on June 1, and my younger son's birthday is on June 2. This will be the first time that my younger son will have a larger family gathering for his birthday. I think I am more excited than he is about that, because I do not think he has really thought about it. lol

That is good they could join you. I envy you in that area. I wish my family lived a lot closer, so my Boys could get to know their larger family. But that is just one of those things. I am glad you had a special day! Keep having those special days -- one way or another! lol
